First College Day Celebration at Loyola Degree College

Enrolling the name in history, the Loyola Degree College held its First Annual Day Celebrations on 18 April 2018 at College Quadrangle. Dr. Thimmappa Hegde, Director and Senior Consultant Neuro Surgeon, NH Mazumdar Shaw Medical Centre was the Chief Guest of the day.

The beautiful evening was blessed with the rhythmic prayer dance which paved the way for the ‘College Day’ function. Mr. Ravikumara PG, the Convener of the programme, gave the welcome address and Mr. Ronson Sunil Menezes, the Asst. Convener introduced the guests.
Mr. Ravikumar P G, was the Coordinator of the programme. Aathish Sequeira and Manasa Ambekar were the Master of Ceremony (MC) who were guided and prepared by Ms. Felicia D’Souza and Ms. Arathi Dinesh.

The beautiful stage was put up under the Stage Management team led by Mr. Sujai Raja Sebastian, Mr. Ronson Sunil Menezes and Mr. Philip D’Silva. Rev. Fr. Francis D’Almeida SJ, Principal, presented the Annual Report of the College through the Power Point Presentation, detailing all the events of the second Semester, ably assisted by Mr. Lazarus Lepcha and Dr. Vincent A.
The trio, Divyashree J, Mohan Raj R of I B.Com A., and Sr. Leivon Florence Lamkang of I B.A., were presented the certificates of Merit for their exemplary performance.
The Merit Certificates were also presented to all the students who achieved Distinctions in the First Semester University Examinations as well as for the subject toppers. The Cultural, Associations, and 100% Attendance certificates were also given to the students. Students who performed well in cultural activities, the members of the Student Council and students who secured attendance above 95 per cent were honoured.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Hegde, the Chief Guest spelt out the struggles and challenges that the institution faced and the dreams for the future to be fulfilled. “Live everyday of your life with a hundred per cent commitment. Externally we may look hard and different but internally there is divinity within us waiting to be manifested,” he added.
The Chief Guest was officially honoured with a shawl and Flower bouquet presented by Fr. Anil D’Mello, the Rector and President of the College.

PROUD MOMENT: Students receiving the certificates on College Day

The former function was followed by the heart throbbing cultural presentations, enthralling the audience to the brim. The Cultural committee headed by M. Charles Godwin along with the students successfully presented a short skit on present scenario ‘Touch Me Not’ highlighting the plight of women in the society. The students under the leadership of Ms. Priyanka Precila D’Cunha, the choreographer, beautifully presented the dance ‘Malala’ based on the life story of the Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai.

All the Parents and Students were served with refreshments. The Rector of Mount St. Joseph Campus, Rev. Fr. Anil D’Mello SJ, gave the presidential address and the President of Student Council, Stephen Dany delivered the Vote of Thanks.
